Our Volunteer Spotlight:

  • Terry Smith Office Volunteer

Terry first became involved with ALSO in the early years at Ross House, volunteering at the Dance Parties and with mail outs. Since retiring from the workforce Terry has been a fixture at ALSO, volunteering at reception on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week. Terry was also one of the first to volunteer at our opportunity shop ALL SO Fabulous, you can find him there every Thursday.

"Giving back to the community is very rewarding"

Terry was awarded ALSO Life Membership in 2002.

  • Heather Birch - CDC Volunteer

Heather has been with ALSO for 3 years and is one of our most proactive volunteers. As well as attending our monthly CDC meetings, Heather is heavily involved with our Seniors projects and chairs our ALSO Seniors Project Advisory Committee. This was formed to support action resulting from ALSO's 'About Time! GLBT Seniors ALSO Matter' strategic plan, which Heather prepared. Heather is a regular presenter at conferences, both in Australia and overseas, where she highlights ALSO Seniors project achievements.

"As an ALSO volunteer, I am able to contribute to "our" community and to help shape a society in which we are accepted and valued."
